Parents and Families;
Stewardship is at the core of the Gospel message. To live as Christians means to be good stewards of the gifts that are bestowed on us by God. Each of us must discern and live out generously the roles and responsibilities to which God calls us. All of us differ in our talents, in our ability to give time, and in our financial resources. Stewardship compliments the mission of the Msgr. Sharkey Tuition Assistance Fund while it helps to fill in the difference between tuition and the actual cost of educating a child. In addition it has afforded us the opportunity to offer additional programs which may not have been possible otherwise.
The Stewardship Tuition Program has allowed families at SPC to give according to their means. Through prayerful discernment, parents are asked to choose one of seven tuition plans (called Plans A through G) which are based on income levels ~ from under $40,000 to over $100,000. There is no documentation needed when plans are selected. Rather, we believe this is a faith-based decision between you and God. Families with less financial means can choose one of the lower tuition plans while they serve the community through donations of time and talent. Families who can afford the higher tuitions give generously so that others may give their children the gift of a Catholic education.
A word about tuition assistance --
Applications for tuition assistance for next year will be made through Smart Tuition Aid Analysis (STAA). Information on this program came home last week. I remind you that the STAA application is due by February 28th. Since you will not know the tuition rates for all of the plans by then, please use the tuition rates for Plan D listed on the first page. (Non-Catholic families should use $4200 per child.) We will be able to adjust your tuition assistance accordingly once our plans are finalized. Tuition assistance will still be awarded by this school through the Sharkey Fund based on the analysis that STAA provides to the school. All assistance is kept strictly confidential. Only Fr. Newton, the bookkeeper and I know what families are receiving assistance.
Your tuition assistance application to STAA should not be confused with the Stewardship Tuition Program outlined above. STAA requires documentation of your income. With our Stewardship Tuition Program we do not require documentation of income. It is instead a faith-based decision made by each family. I will be happy to explain this more thoroughly. Please call me if you have questions (856-667-3034).
Peace,
Mrs. Camille Forrest, principal
